Method

Not all ideas we gathered are good ideas. To find tangible solutions that highlight the technology behind them, we need to evaluate the feasibility and originality of our ideas. We will use the How, Wow, Now Matrix to understand which ideas meet these goals. The matrix consists of a horizontal axis that describes the originality of an idea and a vertical feasibility axis which explains how easy it is to implement (Figure 12).

This leaves us with three boxes; one stays empty because unoriginal ideas that are hard to achieve are not relevant.

Step 1: Take all the ideas and, one after another, place them freely in the matrix. Discuss with your team how the ideas relate to each other and adjust the matrix until everyone is happy with how the ideas are placed.

Step 2: Look at the ideas that would fall into the Wow box. Choose up to three ideas and take them into the next phase.
