The six stages of the process are to research and map the technology, interpret the facts, gather ideas, analyze the user analysis, and prototype. For each phase, we will look at several methods you can use. To start phase one, ensure you have defined, discussed, and sharpened the task ahead and the technology you will work with.

“Nevertheless, we can say that […], and this is the fascinating thing, we are not brought in after fundamental researchers […], when the innovation has been developed, but that we are allowed to sit at the table equally. That is terrific because then you can actually create application-specific solutions.”  (10)

This says it all when it comes to how a team should work. As Christian Jurke describes it, all stakeholders in the process are equally responsible for its success. Make sure you have access and the same rights and obligations as everyone else in the process. Make sure to talk about the way you work together. While designers are used to work in these constellations, others might not be. A workshop before an official kickoff is an excellent way to start.

Tipp: During the whole process, you can get stuck or you are not happy with the result. Consider to go back in the process to gather more insights. This process is not linear.
